KEHR TYPE II INTERPOSTALS - ISSUED 1865-66
In his catalog Kehr described type II as follows:
“Inscribed: POSTE VICE REALI EGIZIANE in an arch at top and inclosed within an eight-pointed star at each end. The town name is inscribed in capitals around the bottom. The whole inclosed in a pair of circular lines. Within are the Turkish characters, arranged in three lines, "Bust-Msry-Myry" (Post of the Egyptian Government). Impression in black ink on tinted paper. Size: 33 mm.
In his 1915 O. May Interpostal Seals Catalog, O. May described these seals as follows:
Type II (1865-6). Inscribed "Poste Vice Reali Egiziane", around outer frame, with three lines of Turkish characters in centre*. Small 8-rayed asterisk at each side between inscription and town name. Frame :— Single outer and inner lines. Black impression on colour. Size 332 mm. (no doubt he meant 33.2) This type was issued concurrently with the first issue of Egyptian postage stamps, and it is worthy of note that the productions from this and all the subsequent types seem to have been carefully postmarked when used.
